Newborn Baby: The Acts Of Sunnah

It is Sunnah to recite the Adhan in the right ear of new born babies moments after they are born, thus making the first words babies hear the words related to Islam:
When Sayyidah Fatimah (Radhiallaho Anha) gave birth to Sayyidna Hasan, Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) recited the Adhan in his right ear (Abu Dawood and Tirmizi).

Another act of Sunnah is Tahneek: putting the chewed and softened portion of the date in the mouths of babies:
It is narrated that when Sayyidna Abu Musa’s son was born, the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) performed Tahneek with a date and named him Ibrahim (Bukhari and Muslim).

  1. That Adhan which is given to us at Birth- it is the Adhan that will carry us all through life. SubhanAllah. Usually a prayer follows when an Adhan is given; the prayer that goes with this Adhan is the Janazah prayer. To Allah (SWT) we belong, to Allah (SWT) we will return.
