Background:
I hold a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta in Strategic Management and Organization. While pursuing my degree, I attended a Creative Non-Fiction Writing class that changed my life in many ways. Prior to this class, I knew I had a love for writing, for my fondest childhood memories were of my sisters gathering in a circle around me in our basement, with their eyes wide open in anticipation, listening to my out-of-this-world stories.

However, it wasn’t until I enrolled in this Creative Non-Fiction Writing class that I discovered my PASSION for writing. It was the first time that homework felt like a hobby, and attending class felt like I was residing in a place of comfort, and not within an institution. Upon completion of my course, my professor suggested I continue to write and pursue a career in writing. I thought he was just being ‘nice’….until he nominated me for ‘The University of Alberta Bookstore WRITE 200-level Prize in Non-Fiction Writing’ award. I was speechless. As I accepted my award, a voice within me was telling me that this would only be the beginning of something much larger. This blog, I believe, is the start of that ‘something much larger.’

      • No problem, insha’Allah, you will find it very easy! When you visit someone’s blog, copy their webpage address (the url) into your clipboard. Then when you are making a post, type whatever you want to say and leave your cursor where you want the link to appear in your text. Next, click on the link button, it looks like the link of a chain, and in the popup window you paste the url onto the line for the address. You can type in the name of the blog on the second line of the link popup window, and hit okay.
The link will be inserted into your text where you left your cursor, insha’Allah, and after you’ve done this once and preview it, you’ll feel much more confident about all this! It’s very easy after the first time, but if you need any more help, just let me know and I’m glad to help you anytime! ♥♥♥ ;^)

  2. Salam Sumaira! My name happens to be the just same as yours, but i can’t seem to find the proper meaning of Sumaira! I searched online and found out it means “brownish, brunette”, in arabic. Further I also read it means princess, successful and is a name of a queen. I also read that it means companion of the night, one that talks in the nights. Which of these are true you think, as a name sister I hope you know the meaning of your beautiful name ❤ 🙂

    • Walaikum Assalam sister Sumaira 🙂 I have also heard the same meanings for this name, however I too do not know the actual meaning 😦 Nonetheless, it’s a beautiful name and I’m delighted to find someone that shares the same name as me, Alhumdulillah!

You get to nominate 11 bloggers and come up with a set of questions for them to answer as well. I’ve seen several variations of the rules, so it’s okay if you don’t follow 100%. and you are not obligated to do it. Here are your questions:

    1.Why did you start blogging?
    2.What is your dream career?
    3.Who is your inspiration?
4.What would your dream writing office look like?
5.Do you prefer to write in the morning, or at night?
    6.What is your favorite dessert?
7.If you could pick up and move anywhere in the world, where would you go?
    8.What is your guilty pleasure?
    9.High heels or flat shoe?
10.If you were to be a color, what color would you be? And why?
11.Describe your style in 3 words.

    Congrats!
