That Perfect Dress

image

Every woman has her own definition of what a perfect dress is, for me that perfect dress is one that is classic, elegant, and timeless.

It’s a dress that you can wear multiple times to many events.

It’s a dress that has POCKETS!

It’s a dress that will never go out of style.

It’s a dress that is modest, has long sleeves, and that you can dress up or dress down.

It can be difficult to find that ‘perfect’ dress, so when you see it, snatch it up quick! That’s what I did! When I first saw my perfect dress, I knew it was the ‘one.’

I can see myself wearing this dress to brunch with the girls, to a spring wedding, to a baby shower…and the list goes on! I love the detail of the gold round buttons on the sleeves, so elegant and classic! The colour blocking on the upper part of this dress allows me to wear either a black, white, or pink coloured hijab with this dress; I can add accessories to this dress or keep it simple. By the way, this dress has pockets- need I say more?!

I’m quite certain that this dress will get many wears out of it throughout the years to come!

Focusing on the good that encompasses you is so THERAPEUTIC. Ever since I started my ‘Love Is’ series, I have felt more positive and I’m more thankful for all the blessings that surround me. I no longer invest most of my energy towards the negativity in my life, instead I try to find what I love about my life and share it with you all! Continue reading

The After School Mess

image

On some winter days, this is what my foyer looks like at 3:30 pm- boots laying on the ground, gloves scattered everywhere, coats piled up high- and sometimes it stays this way until the next morning when my kids put on their winter gear and head off to school. On other days, my foyer is spotless. On ALL days I consider myself a good parent who loves her children and wants what’s best for them. On ALL days my children get fed, get hugs, have playtime, and have a mom who loves listening to their stories and jokes that don’t make sense. On ALL days my children and I have dinner together and play together as a family. On ALL days my children go to bed in cozy pyjamas and kisses from mommy. On ALL days I’am neither a winner or a loser, but a mom who is trying her best.

Sure, some days are more difficult than others, and I get washed over with feeling overwhelmed. Yes, those are the days my foyer looks like a mess, as does most of my house. But no, I don’t let it bother me. Why should I? I know I won’t always have the time or energy to clean my foyer, but I will make time for my children. I can’t always promise you I will have a clean house, but I can promise myself that I will try to be the best parent to my three children. Clean foyer or not, my children are loved and that’s all that matters!

It’s so important to evaluate your life; don’t wait for a special day, the next month, or the new year- do it now! Pause and just think: Where am I? Do I like it here? Or is there something better out there for me?

Almost four years ago, I felt like I knew where my life was headed, and I thought I was happy. But I wasn’t. Continue reading

How To Raise A Righteous Child

image

Here is my article I wrote for Muslimmoms.ca on ‘How To Raise A Righteous Child’

“By Sumaira Zaheer

Subhan’Allah, as Muslims, we recite the Adhan into the ears of our children as soon as they are born so that the first words they hear are those of Islam. As our children grow up, it is our duty to educate our children about Islam; but we must do so with so with love and kindness. Our goal should be to teach our children about our religion, in a loving matter, and in a way that will create righteous children. Furthermore, our objective should be to show our children that Islam has all the answers, and within Islam you will find peace. The following are five key tips to keep in mind when bringing up our children as righteous Muslims. Continue reading
