Why Me, And Why Not Them?

imageWhy Me, And Why Not Them?

There were times when I had asked Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta‘ala), “Why me and why not them? Why do I have all this comfort in my life, while others are struggling to get by? Oh Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta‘ala), here I’am surrounded by so many loved ones, yet there are those out there whom have no one to turn to! Oh Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta‘ala), here I’am in good health, yet there are those in so much pain! Oh Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta‘ala), please help me to understand this, how could this be fair?” Continue reading

10 Kid Friendly Recipes

image
Have you ever searched for a recipe on Pinterest, only to find that it tasted awful? If the answer is yes, you are not alone! Last year, I attempted to make banana pancakes, a recipe I had pinned…what a disaster! Not only did the banana pancakes fall apart in the pan, but they tasted raw and burnt at the same time. I’m that type of mom that is always looking for fast, easy, and healthy recipes for my children, but after making these bananas pancakes, I was a bit discouraged to try another pinned recipe.

Therefore, instead of turning to Pinterest this time, I have turned to some of my blogger friends in hopes of finding kid friendly recipes- the best part is that all of these recipes have been made by my friends and have the approval of their children! Continue reading

The After School Mess

image

On some winter days, this is what my foyer looks like at 3:30 pm- boots laying on the ground, gloves scattered everywhere, coats piled up high- and sometimes it stays this way until the next morning when my kids put on their winter gear and head off to school. On other days, my foyer is spotless. On ALL days I consider myself a good parent who loves her children and wants what’s best for them. On ALL days my children get fed, get hugs, have playtime, and have a mom who loves listening to their stories and jokes that don’t make sense. On ALL days my children and I have dinner together and play together as a family. On ALL days my children go to bed in cozy pyjamas and kisses from mommy. On ALL days I’am neither a winner or a loser, but a mom who is trying her best.

Sure, some days are more difficult than others, and I get washed over with feeling overwhelmed. Yes, those are the days my foyer looks like a mess, as does most of my house. But no, I don’t let it bother me. Why should I? I know I won’t always have the time or energy to clean my foyer, but I will make time for my children. I can’t always promise you I will have a clean house, but I can promise myself that I will try to be the best parent to my three children. Clean foyer or not, my children are loved and that’s all that matters!

Let’s Talk About…TEETHING!

image
There are so many teething products out there, such as teething necklaces, gels, toys, etc. Some natural ways to help ease the pain of teething are to give your baby frozen wash cloths or teething toys to chew on; the idea here is to allow the frozen items numb the pain. This is the method I used for my oldest daughter, and it seemed to work! For my second daughter, I used Camilia homeopathic teething drops; they were so effective I alway made sure I had a good stock in my medicine cabinet and in my diaper bag. In between these drops, my daughter was creative, and put anything and everything in her mouth – yes, even her shoes and her rocker! Continue reading

And This Is Why I Don’t Homeschool My Child…

image

The other day, my oldest daughter, Hafsah, requested that I trim her nails for her, as her nails were getting quite long. I happily agreed and started searching for the nail cutter in the washroom. I checked the usual spot – in the drawer…nope, not there. I checked the other drawer…nope, not there either. Suddenly, Hafsah started bawling her eyes out, and through her tears she cried, “You don’t like the way I organize things!” Ummm…ohhhkaaaay? I was confused. “I organized the washroom for you, but you can’t find the nail cutter now; which means you don’t like the way I organize things, NOW I’m never going to organize anything ever again!” Hafsah exclaimed. ‘AND THIS IS WHY I DON’T HOMESCHOOL MY CHILD!’ I thought to myself. Then, my son Idrees started crying because he wanted me to wipe the snot from his nose. Next in line to cry was my daughter Madina…because she wanted some attention. ‘AND THIS IS ANOTHER REASON WHY I DON’T HOMESCHOOL MY CHILD’I thought to myself once again. Continue reading

My (Un) Planned Pregnancy Pt.2

Part 1: http://themuslimahmommy.com/2014/08/30/my-un-planned-pregnancy-pt-1/

The next morning I woke up for Suhoor, and noticed something strange – my pants were wet! I couldn’t believe it; I felt so embarrassed, and didn’t expect to wet myself this early on in my pregnancy. I had heard of women losing bladder control when pregnant, but I didn’t expect it happen to me. After eating Suhoor, I prayed, read some verses from the Quran, and went back to sleep. I woke up a few hours later, and again I was wet! I was so embarrassed again, and so confused, as I was not even feeling the urge to have to go to the bathroom! That’s when I decided to tell my mom about my situation. Continue reading
