Words From A Canadian Born Muslim Mother

As a Canadian born Muslim mother, I inform my daughter that she should embrace her Canadian nationality, and she does. Furthermore, I teach my daughter to celebrate the diversity that exists within our multicultural country and to appreciate the beauty of individuality that exists amongst Canadians, and she does.  Continue reading

That Perfect Dress

image

Every woman has her own definition of what a perfect dress is, for me that perfect dress is one that is classic, elegant, and timeless.

It’s a dress that you can wear multiple times to many events.

It’s a dress that has POCKETS!

It’s a dress that will never go out of style.

It’s a dress that is modest, has long sleeves, and that you can dress up or dress down.

It can be difficult to find that ‘perfect’ dress, so when you see it, snatch it up quick! That’s what I did! When I first saw my perfect dress, I knew it was the ‘one.’

I can see myself wearing this dress to brunch with the girls, to a spring wedding, to a baby shower…and the list goes on! I love the detail of the gold round buttons on the sleeves, so elegant and classic! The colour blocking on the upper part of this dress allows me to wear either a black, white, or pink coloured hijab with this dress; I can add accessories to this dress or keep it simple. By the way, this dress has pockets- need I say more?!

I’m quite certain that this dress will get many wears out of it throughout the years to come!

I no longer invest most of my energy towards the negativity in my life, instead I try to find what I love about my life and share it with you all! Continue reading

Daily 10 Minute Islamic Challenge For Families

image

How often do we catch ourselves being overwhelmed by life? I mean, so overwhelmed that we forget the purpose of why we are living? And what is the purpose of living, you ask: to worship Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala), to follow the Sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam), and to pass this life’s test so that we can reach Jannah with our families Insha’Allah!

If we have time for social media, social gatherings, and socializing, then why don’t we make time for Islam? No really, why don’t we? Now, I know it’s hard- especially if you are a parent. But, you know what? It’s not impossible to teach Islam within your household on a daily basis…all it takes is 10 minutes each day! Continue reading

10 Kid Friendly Recipes

image
Have you ever searched for a recipe on Pinterest, only to find that it tasted awful? If the answer is yes, you are not alone! Last year, I attempted to make banana pancakes, a recipe I had pinned…what a disaster! Not only did the banana pancakes fall apart in the pan, but they tasted raw and burnt at the same time. I’m that type of mom that is always looking for fast, easy, and healthy recipes for my children, but after making these bananas pancakes, I was a bit discouraged to try another pinned recipe.

Therefore, instead of turning to Pinterest this time, I have turned to some of my blogger friends in hopes of finding kid friendly recipes- the best part is that all of these recipes have been made by my friends and have the approval of their children! Continue reading
